An Ephesian tradesman is wrapping up his time at a trade show in the Galilee region of Palestine. A few days before he sails home he visits a small carpenter’s shop in Nazareth. He wishes to place an order for a small idol–an Artemis figurine–for an upcoming religious festival back home.
The Jewish carpenter knows that his people have been stereotyped as narrow-minded bigots and religious zealots. Maybe this idol order is an opportunity to build a bridge between Jew and Gentile.
